AAP Classification: The Simple Math of the Not So New AAP Classification!

Course Description:

The New 2018 AAP Periodontal Classification is not so new anymore! By now dental professionals should be in the implementation stage and have seen a few returning clients that have already been staged and graded. Easier said than done? It can be easy with assistance from this course!

Course Objectives:
  • Comprehend the impact of collecting accurate indices
  • Note the components of a soft tissue, deposit and periodontal assessment in the use of descriptive terms and indices
  • Differentiate the three anatomical presentations of the gingival margin
  • Understand how a true calculated attachment level is captured and required for staging
  • Review the essential elements of a periodontal assessment and medical history review to navigate the staging and grading tables
  • Realize why some CAL values 'count' and why some do not 'count'
  • Compose a dental hygiene diagnostic statement in terms of staging and grading
  • Frame assessment data within a circuitry approach to ensure accuracy and efficient chairside time management
  • Address barriers to implementation with supportive solutions involving the entire team
